This population has its origin with the settlement in Los Llanos, where small farmers formed the population center around the agricultural warehouse built by Florentino Vázquez and his wife Marina Cortés de la Torre in 1953. Its first inhabitants came from various locations in the Alpujarra like Torvizcón or Rubite . The final takeoff came with the construction of housing by the Institute for Agrarian Reform and Development.Immigrationhas also made this town grow in recent years, where the population already exceeds 2,000 people.
In 1974, a town of the so-called colonization was built by the IRYDA (Institute for Agrarian Reform and Development), which is located right next to the old town 'el pueblecillo', built with few means by the farmers who left settling in the plain, so that the influx of population grows dramatically.
