Orgiva Properties is the oldest established property agency in the area.

Founded by Paul McJury in 2004 Orgiva Properties has been helping clients to find their dream property, whether it be a cortijo, a country house or a house in the pretty villages of the Alpujarras, for nearly ten years.

At the end of the boom in property prices almost all estate agencies in the Alpujarras, and in Órgiva in particular, disappeared.

Orgiva Properties has consistently offered high levels of service to vendors and buyers alike and this is no doubt the reason why the agency is not simply surviving but thriving and growing.

In the past ten years there have been considerable changes in legislation affecting the sale of property which makes life more complicated both for estate agents and their clients. Previously lax attitudes on the part of lawyers are no longer accepted.

In November 2014 we opened bright new offices, right in the centre of town, conveniently situated underneath the Orgiva Notary’s office.

The Another Way Of Life partnership

In February 2014 after working informally with Allan Hilder of the specialist Andalucía based rural estate agency Another Way Of Life.com for two years, Paul accepted Allan’s invitation to bring Orgiva Properties into the Another Way Of Life partnership.

Paul and Allan, together with the rest of the Another Way Of Life.com team, now work closely together to ensure that the properties they are entrusted to market are put in front of the widest possible audience, with a global reach not only through their own websites but also through paid monthly subscriptions to around 20 property portals.

With their policy of listening carefully to buyers requirements and not attempting to show properties that clearly will not be of interest to them, Paul and Allan quickly build up a relationship of trust. This honest approach encourages buyers to take their advice seriously. If a property is not right for the buyer they will never attempt to “sell” it to them.

A cornerstone of Another Way Of Life’s philosophy is that the agency works as a partner for both parties, seller and buyer, and is neither attempting to sell at all costs through making unjustified statements to the buyer, nor simply attempting to beat the seller down on price to a level at which he becomes resentful and loses faith in the sale process.

A thoroughly professional attitude and a willingness to meet challenges, however complex, full-on typify the attitude of the agency and its partners.

Culture and Language

In rural Andalucia the vast majority of buyers are non-Spanish. For both economic and cultural reasons the Spanish prefer to live in towns. It is vitally important, therefore, that agents speak the language of the clients and understand the mentality of, predominantly, Northern Europeans. Thought processes and belief structures can be vastly different and misunderstandings very common. All of the Another Way Of Life.com partners speak English fluently and some speak French and Dutch also.

The Aim

That both buyers and sellers emerge from a sale satisfied with the outcome and confident that we have done a really good job in both bringing them together and successfully concluding what is not only a financial, but also an emotional, process.

We look forward to meeting you.
